I have a dual processor Win2K terminal server and using thin clients to connect to it. My thin clients support 16 and 24 bit colour but when i connect to the terminal server, i am connected only in 256 colors. Can anyone tell me where I set it so clients can make the connections in higher than 256 colors. I am sure the thin clients are setup correctly but can't find the setting on the server where this could be. Any help would be highly appreciated. thanks

Hi Hamzajosh,

Unfortunatley there is bad news ahead for you. Win2000 runs RDP5.0 which cannot and will not go above 256 colours. To get more then 256 colours you have 2 options.

1) - Upgrade to Win2003. The has the new RDP5.1 which supports up to 16 bit colours.

2) - Buy and install Citrix Metaframe XP.(can be expensive)

The Microsoft clients will support up to 16bit colours but RDP5.0 cannot. You also cannot install RDP5.1 on Win2000.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Greg, thank you very much for your reply. Although it was bad news, at least I can end my search and look for a solution in a different direction . Thank you again
