Created printer in Aloha-Maintenance-Hardware-Printers. Connected to order entry Terminal. Terminal does not recognize the printer. Connected other working printers to this Terminal and get same result. Connected this printer to other Terminals and it works. Tried different cables, nothing changed. Any suggestions? This Terminal had a working printer on it a few months ago in a different restaurant.

Are you getting a printer offline or not communicating error? Or are you not getting any error messages at all?

Go to Hardware, terminals and select the appropriate terminal and set it as both the default and voucher printer.

The message is that the printer is "offline". Also, it is already set as the default and voucher printer under terminals. What next? (Thanks for responding! Much appreciated!)

Are you using any pinout adapters to connect this printer to the terminal? I would check those if you are. Maybe try using a different com port on the terminal.

I have tried all com ports on terminal. The adapter between the printer and the cable works on every other terminal. Is there something in the computer itself that needs programed or renamed? Also tried different power cord.

Is there an adapter at both ends of the connection (back of printer and back of terminal) if so have you tried both of them at other terminals?

When you removed the terminal from the other site, did it already have an adapter on the com port? If yes, replace with adapters (both ends) from one of your working terminals to test. Adapters should be used in pairs, people have different ways of terming the same connection and it can lead to problems.

What is the OS on the terminal?

Have you checked device manager to see if the com port is recognized and properly configured?

Is there a printer installed on the terminal using the same port as you specified the printer to use in Aloha Manager? If so, delete it.

On the under side of the printer there is a small metal cover with a screw in it. Remove that, and move the 2 sets of dip switches. Compare to another printer, recycle the printer, and it should work.

Thank you for your responses. I had to have a technician come out for another problem and he took care of this. One com port was bad and the other needed reconfigured. Thank you again for all of your suggestions!!!
