I am not very familiar with IOS. I am looking for a command in IOS 12.2 (I believe) that will do basically the same thing as term mon in old IOS or cat os. Basically, I work in a hospital and sometimes we have no idea what port a computer is plugged into so we will have a tech unplug the pc so we can see the port go down. Term Mon doesn't do this option in the new ios.

Thanks.

Term mon still exists in most, if not all, 12.2 IOS releases.

Have you checked logging is enabled and set to the appropriate level using the 'show logging' command?

You'll need to ensure that monitor logging is enable and that the appropriate level is set.

For remote (telnet) sessions, try setting 'logging monitor 7' in config mode and see if this helps display some of the port disconnecting messages you're interested in.

Hope this helps

To see the ports go down on the new sup 720's you need to add the router statement "logging event link-status" , this will enable you to see the user ports go up and down .
