Come on, Dave! You practically handed me that one!

Tracy Dryden

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons,
For you are crunchy, and good with mustard. [dragon]

Such sauces can be expensive,
the pursuit of them quite extensive,
but some like their cuisine that way,
an Asian invasion, on taste at least,
if the sauce is hot enough
to freeze the eater's legs,
He'll pay the boss, for the sauce,
thus the term Taipei.
(at least, to the Tie One Knees).

(I have no idea what the above means...)

Thank goodness, I thought it was just me!

I read it again, and, sadly, it's still nonsense.

Something about Tie, and Pay. Humm, "Taipei." I thought "Taiwanese" was close, however (tie one knees) although the whole "eater's legs" things is pretty much the red-headed stepchild of anything poetic.

Instead of "Asian Invasion,"
I nearly used
"Asian abrasion,"
But that rubbed me the Wong way.

What's the problem with Taipei?

Taipei City is the capital of the Republic of China and the largest city in Taiwan. ((Not to confuse with Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China.)

The poem above doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but not a complete nonsense, either - just a curious play on words.

Stella,

As an English-speaker since birth (with ZERO talent for other languages, even after several years of studying French), I really admire your ability to pick up on some of the "play on words" that I used. Heck, in French I can barely tell the original meaning, much less any "plait".

THanks,
Tim

Tim,

I'd like to know what your parents put in your baby formula for you to be "an English-speaker since birth". That's an amazing feat. (Of course, you may have amazing feet, as well...is that also the case?)

Well, Size 13 is a bit big,
But not so aweful you'd have to rig,
A shoe sale on a grand scale,
After all, I'm not a real whale.

Just a [blue]Fin[/blue]nish with large toes,
Lower digits comfy, though some froze,
Nail biting, however exciting,
Was generally blamed on an Elf.

Sans Toe Claws, and all...

What a coincidence! Same here. I've never studied French, though.

Tim,

You make me smile, my friend - I thought I was abstract!! Can you still reach (where the Elf got blamed...)?

BTW, I notice your frustration in another post at trying to include the gif images in your posts. Here's what I do (probably very long winded!):
preview my post and click to open the smileys (You've done this already); then
right-click on the one I want and click properties; highlight (block) the address (URL) and Ctrl-C (copy);
go back to edit your post and hit Ctrl-V (paste) in the appropriate place; finally
surround the whole address with [blue][ignore][[/ignore]img [/blue]http.....[blue]][/blue]

You can use the [ignore]
[/ignore] tag to include any image into a post; however, please do not post one too large. If all you want are some emoticons, there are quite a few built into TGML. After the bottom of the post block is a link "Emoticons/Smileys". From within that popup page, you can see those supported, and the associated TGML sequence.

A few samples follow:

[ignore][bigsmile][/ignore] - [bigsmile]
[ignore][smile][/ignore] - [smile]
[ignore][rofl][/ignore] - [rofl]
[ignore][wavey3][/ignore] - [wavey3]

Good Luck

Hmm, abs tract. I'm thinking "tummy acres."

But that's just me.

[purple]To all: thanks for your kind words and responses. I really was afraid I was getting a bit afield (i.e., there's a [red]price[/red] for "free verse"). BTW -I'll play soon with the smilies - thanks for the suggestions[/purple]
