Hi all,

We've recently been experiencing a few issues with our 2410 and 2420 handsets suddenly dropping calls and going offline (i.e. no dial-tone, no lights.) The outages are usually short, about a minute or two but nevertheless have become a real problem. Thinking that it is perhaps a carrier issue, I have contacted our carrier and they have informed me that there are no issues with our PRI and to get in touch with our PBX folks. I contacted the firm who supports our S8500\G650 but they insist that are no problems with the PBX. I have very limited experience with Avaya systems but am able to get around the SAT environment to make move, changes, etc. I also have some understanding of how everything works together. What I need know is where the log files are kept. I'm sure the system keeps some kind of logs that would help me troubleshoot this issue.

If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Possible bad TN2224? Run a 'disp er' and under error list type 'errors'. Lets see the error report.

phoneguy55,

Thanks for the reply.

I have over 100 pages of logged errors. Is this normal? The system has been up for approximately 2 years. Should I filter out some of the less important errors?

Is this a global outage for your entire company?

Are you by chance an ESS or LSP site off another site?

If so, wonder if you WAN link is experiencing problems which could result in dropped calls, phones resetting, etc...

Thanks,
CJH

We are not using HA, just a single 8500\G650. Can the issues be related to a network problem?

You can narrow down your search by putting in a starting date. If you have that much data in disp errors, it probably was never cleared.
