Close Word, do a file search for normal.dot, delete it, open Word, may take twice. If you have custom AutoText you may want to save the file to a floppy before deleting.

tried that already... just defaults back to stupid text.

(template location is correct in file locations)

ive managed to sort normal text.... but all the heading fonts and sizes are screwy as is the text spacing.

im sure i saw an option to set these up but i cant find it in the menus...

i feel a reinstall coming on.... :(

thnx

I found this in Word help:

. . .

On the Format menu, click Font.

Select the options you want to apply to the default font. Click Default. Any new document you open will use the font settings you selected.

If you're talking about the style named "Normal" in only the current document, then...
Format-Style
select Normal
click Modify
select the desired Font, Font style and Size
OK
OK
Apply

If you're talking about changing the font in the Normal.dot template for all new documents, then...
Format-Font
select the desired Font, Font style and Size
click Default (lower left)
Yes
OK
[This will change the default font in your Normal.dot template without you're having to specifically open it.]

hey dcompto.. that was the thing i was looking for (style) hovever i cannot set up and save setting for header1/2/3... it just reverts back to arial etc etc.

i know what i want is possible because i used to be like that!!

thnx again

Do you mean it reverts back to arial etc. in the current document? Or in new documents?

Did you check the Add to template checkbox when you tried to modify Heading 1?

For example,
Format-Style
select Heading 1
click Modify
make your changes and BEFORE clicking OK,
check the Add to template checkbox
OK
OK
Apply

You would have to do this on all the Heading styles that have Arial selected.

Hopefully, this will accomplish what you need.

doh... damn those little check boxes..... thank you you saved my sanity
