I am trying right now to cleanup the templates on the switch for we are quite close to reaching our max. Is there a simple easy way to do this with out using LD1. Right now I manually delete the set and then recreate it. However that does not get rid of the duplicate templates, and is quite time consuming.

no your using the only known way.. with over 7000 stations i have ran template audit once in 5 years.. i've never seen that as a maint issue?

What's wrong with LD 1, is there a reason you don't want to use it. I've been doing Nortel for over 25 years and I never had a proble using LD1.

I have talked to a Bell Tech about this issue and he recommended that I don't use it, for if anything happens while it was running the program in LD1 it could corrupt that the system data. I have never used LD1 so I am unsure on how long it takes.

I have had switches ini on me expecially on rls 3.0 from entering ld 1, so I wouldn't do it during business hours.
As far as it causing corruption have never experienced it myself, but supposedly if you start a template audit and iterrupt it before it has completed may cause corruption.

that was true around rls 14 or so.. i use ld one if needed. not on high traffic and do not **** out after it starts, thats old as well and may not be true but i don't take chances.. a template audit would be a good idea at least once a year, i'll put that on my maint schedule..

Thank you, I appreciate all the help with this subject.

I assure you that it can cause ini in systems with succession 3.0 have experienced it personally. Not saying it will definitely ini but is something that could happen.
This is from the book.

Due to the Real Time impact of this program and the large amount of data
being scanned, the template audit should be run during low traffic hours.
The template audit should not be aborted unless it is critically necessary. If it
does become necessary to interrupt execution of the audit, be aware that the
templates may be corrupted.
If a system initialization occurs during the template audit, the program is
automatically aborted. It should be restarted as soon as possible after this
occurs.

That is why in succession 4 and higher you have to confirm y/n before the audit begins.

There is a patch for 3.0 that fixes the INI when going into LD 1. We had the same problem which is why we don't use LD 11 anymore. Too many times someone missed the second one and the switch would INI. (Happened twice at 5pm) The patch does fix the problem but no one was brave enough to test it so we had to wait for someone to enter LD 1 by accident again.
