What's causing my temp folder to fill up with 9gb of cat files, what should i be doing to stop this? ARCserve 2000 Build 1100 (SP4) O/S Windows 2000 (SP3)
2-After you finish the above step and fixed your problem
the run MergeCAT.exe to merge all the CAT files in your temp folder to Arcserve database.
This should empty the temp folder
as soon as you see any CAT files in your temp folder this mean you a database problem and unable to update Arcserve
database .
Depending on the current size of your Database you may want to start with a new DB. If you have 9gb of Cat files then its safe to say that you have passed your default prune schedule of 30 days and won't loss any information as it would have been pruned from the DB already.
If you have a test server. Install Arcserve and once complete you can copy the X:\program files\computer associates\Arcserveit\Database dir
You will need to shut down the arcserve engines before doing so.
Then rename your existing Database dir and copy in the new one. Restart the engines and from command line
X:\program files\computer associates\Arcserveit
run mergecat.exe and the *.cat files that are in the temp dir will begin to merge into the DB. Keep in mind this will take some time.
once complete you should see the entries have populated the database by checking the restore manager for media records.
