I am trying to telnet into the service port of an S8700. I am allowed to enter my login and password. The system shows the last login and then a message "connection to host lost". I have tried repeatedly to both the active and stanby, via the modem IP and service port with same results. Including myself there are 4 logins active at this time. Can anyone help me?

Make sure that your network config has the ip setup as 192.11.13.5 subnet mask 255.255.255.252. If you have your network config in DHCP it will not let you connect to the services port.

Since I'm always accessing media servers I use XP's alternate configuration in the TCP properties and setup a User Configured default so I can quiclky go back and forth from DHCP to static.

Thankyou Marty

I'm able to use ASA and access the web maintenance pages with the 192.11.13.5 - 255.255.255.252. It is as though I'm being denied telnet accss based on my login. Any other thoughts?

Thank you all for your input. It was that "shell access" was disabled in the dadmin login. I had to contact Avaya as I cannot even display the dadmin login, much less change it. (It was an $84.00 charge for "resetting the password"). There were no entries in the history so it must have occurred automatically during the last upgrade. I didn't get an answer from Avaya as to how it may have changed. Again, Thanks!
