Hi,

I have a temperature & humidity sensor that will be sitting on a network that will have an IP address assigned to it. The current temp & humidity can be accessed by connecting to it telnet and typing 'sample'. How would I go about automating something like this in a VB program? What control can I use for the telnet type connection? Can I use the Internet Transfer control with port 23 and tcp protocol? I am unfamiliar with telnet, so I apologize if this question is obvious to some.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Marc,

That sounds interesting....

I rather think you'd be better off using the winsock control, there are some good examples in the Help files as well.

Have a look at the control and get back to us (email me if you want as I look through the VB forums infrequently)

do you have to use VB,, could you use vba?
What is your emulation(telnet) software?
if you using windows telnet then you might as
well continue with your VB app using winsock control.
