MY
I have a Risc server with AIX 4.3 and when I perform telnet <hostname> <port #> from the same host (need to check the availability of my <port#>),
I will get an error of this

telnet: connect: A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.

I have checked my inetd.conf and have restarted inetd and telnet deamon. What else should I check?

Thanks for helping!

Hi,

I received the same message:
Telnet: connect: A remote host refused an attempted connects operation

When my Nis services where down. Not sure if you are running NIS..But if so try restarting the NIS services.
smitty nfs ->nis ->remove client configuration ..then go back and add client configurations

Hope this helps.
