Hello all, I'm having major issues with the Nortel CS 1000 Telephony Manager.

Going into the manager I open out "site" from the Navigator, then from the opened "site" I try to open our billing system. The billing system never opens and I get a message every once in a while saying "MDRSNMPSRV: No ATOM name is available.".

I have no other way of running our billing and don't have a clue what's going on with this ancient thing.

Any help?

For starters, techs don't let techs use Telephony Manager. It wasn't made in Scotland so therefore it's crap. That said... it's no longer supported by Avaya so you're not going to see much love from them there. That said, the only reference I see to that in Avaya's KB is for OTM 1.5.

Check to see if the process.mdb file is located in the Nortel\Millennium\Root Data\Library folder

The file is there.

I inherited all the software and equipment when I started this job last year. The Telephony Manager has been a nightmare.

I feel your pain. Like most software developed by Nortel, it's crap and most PBX techs stay away from it. Customers like it because they can do quick phone moves/adds/changes to save MAC charges from a vendor via a web interface that's slow and clunky for us more seasoned phone techs who can do everything via command line. I personally never quite understood the whole internal phone billing aspects of some companies. Creates more work for the phone guy and accounting dept to wrangle a few bucks in LD charges from each dept. But anyway, I digress...

What version of TM are you running?

You may just have to blow it away, reinstall and start fresh. Just make sure you follow the install/config guide for it very carefully. The latest version of TM (v4.0) went went end-of-life as far as Nortel/Avaya is concerned a several years ago so you're not going to get any support from Avaya unless you have a SSO login and can access their internal database... and there's only one mention of the error you saw.

Some vendors still support it - but you're going to get just "best effort"... and usually with a hefty per-hour charge.

It is Nortel CS 1000 TM - Release 3.00.888

I'm not going to lie, I have no idea how. I'm not sure if I have installation discs or not.

I'd check with your local Nortel vendor then... see if they can assist.

There are also alternative telephony billing software packages out there as well. Doesn't have to be Nortel's TM. They all use the same CDR output from your PBX. I can't recommend any since I don't get into those applications at all other than setting up CDR and making that output available.

Thank you for the help. I will probably talk with them about getting off the CS 1000 and finding something more stable. This thing has had me pulling my hair out more than once.

I believe you can also do an install over the top of what's already there, kinda like a repair, and it will keep your existing data. There is probably some patches you will need also. But all of this can be downloaded as well as the install image.

TM has multiple modules. Some are better than nothing. Some are not.

One is Telephony Billing system. You need to clear what you are licensed for. just because it appears does not mean it is licensed or set up. Most TMs I have seen are installed and minimally configured.

Telecom Billing is one of the most difficult modules to configure and maintain.

Are you licensed for it? You should see that on your keycode sheet.
