We have been having a major problem with our Telephony Manager. It just stops collecting data out of the blue and we have to reset the modem weekly. I would appreciate any help you might offer. Thanks

Are you using a MDR or the system buffer?

We are using an MDR- along with two US Robotics modems(one to call out and one to rcv? I am not really that familiar with this application and have been watching multiple people work on it with no sucess... Thanks

Do you see anything strange listed in System Alarms?? What hardware and OS are you running on - plus what is the version of TM? Have you tried replacing the modems or check/replace the cables to the modems?

The Event Log shows, "Traffic data collection failed- failed to establish connection with data source.

The TM software is 3.2 and the OS is Windows 2003 Server
I am not sure what the hardware is on it, but they just put in another server and the modems have been changed out multiple times. Hope that gives you a little more info

The other locations report that their buffers are full, I guess because our modem stops polling them?

Thanks

Is your TM keyed for multiple sites? Have you checked that you are using the correct users and passwords for each system? Have you "synced" with each site? Have you connected with each site? Are you using the correct cables to each modem? Are the modems configured correctly? Is this thing configured correctly?

This is a very intermittent problem. We can go along for a week or so and then all of a sudden the modem at our main location just stops polling. We have had the TAC engineers working on this for months now and I guess they're finally going to escalate it to Nortel.

What kinda modems are you using?

For some reason, I think you might be having commercial power problems. We had similar issues until we put a UPS on our TM's. We still reboot these every 90 days.

Drop the modems go to WAN to setup Data Buffering and Access. If you have the ability we have several sites never have a problem unless circuit drops but PBX are setup to buffer so when circuit comes backup buffered information is then uploaded to detail1.img file. You could still use the MDR on the WAN we have on our largest location both running as a way to confirm we are getting all our data.

We have been telling the customer here that same idea for months now, but things move at the pace of a glacier in these corporations. I'm sure after we put in a 1000 hrs and finally get this thing working...they will tell us to swich it over. Thanks for all your suggestions
