Telephony Manager 3.2 logon issue

Hi all,

I do about 99% of the changes to our Nortel Meridian Opt 11 switch via TM. Luckily I usually don't have to make changes to our system very often but when I do TM is all I really know.

I suddenly and inexplicably cannot get logged into TM. All I get is "Invalid User ID or Password" no matter if I try to logon via local Navigator or web interface.

When our TM 3.2 was installed/configured 4+ years ago all but one of the User IDs setup in TM was configured to use MS Network for password authentication. One local User ID/Password was also created way back then as a backup just in case something happened with the MS Network password authentication. Well, apparently something has happened somewhere because NONE of the User ID/Passwords are being accepted, not even the local User ID/Password, so now I am basically locked out of TM. :-( I'm pretty much the only one that uses/accesses TM so I'm positive no configuration changes have been made.

I've rebooted multiple times the Windows XP Pro workstation I have TM running on but still no luck gaining access. The PC and Win XP seems to be functioning normally and as far as I can tell TM is loading up properly without any obvious errors other than not being able to logon. The web interface is also accessible but not letting me logon.

I'm stumped. Does anyone have any ideas of what my problem might be or any alternative ways to gain access to TM?

Thanks for any help!
Tim H.

The TM Server itself has all of its services started/running?
I had an issue a while back where the TM Server web service had stopped but Starting the service back up fixed it (or rebooting the TM server, I can't remember).

Thanks for responding Funk49...

Yes, as far as I can tell the TM* services are running...

- TMResourceManager
- TMSingletonServer
- TMTaskScheduler
- TMWatchDog

all have a status of Started. PostgreSQL is also running which I think TM uses for database access. Any other services you think might be key to getting logged on to TM?

I also did rebooted the TM server a few times but it had no effect on the issue.

Also, I just now noticed while poking around in the C:\Program Files\Nortel\Telephony Manager directory that it looks like scheduled tasks are still functioning in the background based on some recent log updates I'm seeing.

Thanks... keep the ideas coming. I'll try just about anything at this point.

Usually TM uses the administrative login/pw of the server it resides on. This password should be set to not expire. Either case you may want to reset this pw. You may also want to select uninstall TM but instead of uninstall select repair.

BINGO!! Using the local server's admin user id/pw that TM is running on got me in to TM. THANKS Nodal!!!!!

It never occurred to me to give that a try... I just assumed that only the users created in the Security section of TM could logon to TM and nothing else. For some reason none of the "Remote" type user ids that use our network domain for authentication work any longer. And I guess the password for the one "Local" type user id created long ago was not written down correctly or something because after I reset that password I can also sign in as that user id. Weird.

Anyhow, I changed my user ID to "Local" and created a fixed password and I can now logon to TM with that user ID. Yeah!!

Thanks again for the assistance!!
