Recently upgraded to a bcm 50 r6 from 4-line phones. Everything is fine except the message waiting from the telco. Have line 61 programmed for Extl VMsg set:Y for four extensions. It worked once and that was it. I tried a cordless phone and that shows a light when a message is left in telco's voicemail. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I think you are out of luck.
The Message Waiting Light is used for the Call Pilot (Nortel proprietary voicemail system) to indicate when you have a message.

What you have in place will work; an analog set with the MWI getting a signal from the Telco to turn on the light.
It's that option or picking up the telephone line and listen for the stuttered dial tone to indicate when there is a message.

This is actually supported on BCM. We have a number of customers using it on BCM50.

Without using the line that the MWI indication is sent on, try leaving yourself a message. Then go in and remove all messages. Again, don't use the CO line that does the actual MWI on and off.

I would also reboot the BCM before doing this.

There was a bug with this feature, but it was cleaned up a few years ago (like in 4.0).

Thanks for the replies. After I finished installing this system the customer decided they wanted to pick up the main line offhook.....so I switched the jumpers and forgot to assign L62 for the feature. I was told you need to subscribe to AT&T's unified messaging for this to light up the light on the phones.

Thanks again.
