Tektronix 850 media jam - help requested

Hello, the printer displays "Media jam - open front cover to clear". The paper will be at the very bottom rollers, with the paper sensor on the right raised just a little. If I lower the paper just a little so the sensor is not raised, then close the door, the error will go away for a few seconds then reappear (as the rollers raise the paper a fraction of an inch again). I take out the paper and try again, and when the paper is loaded, the error appears again - every time. Eventually, if I play with it for a while, it will give me a 08,001.44 error, but this is after much messing around. I have cleaned the printer very well, using the card stock paper trick, and air blowing the inside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That error says the cap/wipe/purge assy sensro did not see teh flag indicating the assy was in home position. Check the assy alignment, it has 2 belts one on either side that raise and lower it and the belts should have good tension and there are marks on the chassis that line up with points on the plastic pieces on the cap belts. Check both sides to ensure alignment. Check teh clutch that drives the cap assy it is on teh upper right side. Ensure it goes all the way down and you can see where the cap assy trip the flag and the sensor.
