TEHO (Tail End Hop Off) advice

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone implemented TEHO in a global setting, and if so does anyone know if there are any legal ramifications by doing so? Does anyone know where I can go to get information about whether TEHO is legal in particular countries? Seems hard to find this info...

I call this toll bypass. I have my system programmed in the USA to allow 10 digit calls to areas where I have trunks. This is all built in my ARS table locations, and it relys on the existing routes that individual sites use anyway. If a user dials 1+ the number I send them out on the public network. I have heard not to do this for call from USA to Canada, don't know why. In general I think there are tariff concerns. Your LD carrier might have advice. Regarding Caller ID, only send numbers you actually subscribe to. I try to send out numbers that make sense local to the trunks I am using. Some carriers actually check the caller ID you are sending and may deny the call if it doesn't match a number that belongs to the T1 you are calling out on.

Thanks IPOthermia!! I have referred to it as toll bypass too. I'm looking to do TEHO globally, so lets say someone from the Netherlands calls someone Off-net in Michigan...instead of their call going through their own Netherlands trunk lines as an international call, I'd line to send them out my New Jersey trunks since that is a less expensive way to do it. Technically I can do it because we have implemented the FCE model, but I dont know if I'd be violating any laws in the Netherlands...

Or any country for that matter...

I have about 20 Countries I'd be doing this for. I can reach out to my carrier in the US, but globally it might be hard to do because of language barriers and time zone differences. If you find any information or know of any that helps programmers navigate through the legal concerns, let me know! Thanks!

In the Netherlands there is no law that says that you can not do this. When I used to work for AT&T back in the 90's of the las century we did this for AT&T Network Systems all the time

Perhaps it is best to 'Beg Forgiveness' versus 'Ask For Permission' In other words - Do it until someone complains.
