technical difference between network shortcut and mapped drive

a maped drive has a driveletter attached
Some of the progrmas like games etc needs a CD to run.
if u will install those progrmas from network . next time when that progrma sruns ask u for cd than shorhcut will not work so mapping a drive is good practice
