I have a customer that wants to save voicemail messages to a wav file on his computer? I have installed a couple of cp's but never used the eathernet connection. My vendor tells me that port is not active on cp 100.
Can a customer with MICS 6.1 and CP100 2.0 plug in and use the unified messaging without additional equipment, such as voip?

I'm not sure off the top of my head if you can use unified messaging on a CP-100. If you can, you have to set the CP's IP address within the range of the network. You then need to purchase keycodes to enable the number of unified messaging seats required. On a NAM you can only integrate your voicemail messages with MS Outlook, and I presume a CP is the same. The software required to integrate each user should be on the CD that came with the CP.

You Vendor is wrong, get a new one or call them on it! The NIC port on the CP100 is active. The default IP address is 192.168.110.10 (just like the NAM was). If you hookup to it with a PC or laptop with a crossover cable, you can access the web interface. You must set the PC to 192.168.110.(something other than 10).

As for the WAV file. If it's just one user and they are ok spending the money, get them an Auxbox 4102 USB. I got the one I sold from Graybar. It hookup inline with the digital phone as a pass threw. Real easy to setup. They can record all the time or just when they want to. I am not sure if it's output is WAV, WMF or MP3. Any format could be converted to others fairly easily.

Thanks for the input Rob. I found the AuxBox at graybar and it will be a good thing to keep in mind. After talking to my customer, I think we will go with a CP150 for the extra ports, he's looking at 15 users (lawers don't you know). So if I buy a CP150 and the seat codes it will work? They can use unified messaging like it explains in the user cd?
Thanks for your help.
