Empower the novice to "find it in the book" if they chose to. No prompts and possible responses will ever be found in the LD 20 book.

Stop telling people that changes are made in LD 20. They are not.

I'm herding the cats I see :) Log in, go to LD 20. REQ CHG ; TYPE 2616. Now pause.

Connect to another TTY and see what overlay appears to be in use on the first TTY. Now you know what overlay EM uses.

They are linked loads, but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

I see your point, but I was taught to use LD20 and so that's what I use - I do know where to look in the book if I need to find something though.

It all depends what release the PBX was on when you started working on them. Release 19 linked LD 10, 11, 20, and 32. Gene is correct though.

I know the loads but maybe i am just lazy, use LD20 for all the above. Also in 20 you can "st LSC" instead of in LD32 you would be forced to put full "stat LSC" now that is lazy :)

I know the loads, which is why I use the right load for the right job! Gene is right, load linking was done to add print/stat to LD 10 and 11, not new/changes to LD 20.

It is all about giving the novice a fighting chance.

And the novice really appreciate that.
Cause I didn't know that, and it's a lot more complicated than I thought!

LOL I am with my buddy bignose ... I only use LD 20. I tried using 10 and 11 but gave up :D

Interesting that they linked them to add print/stat like mikepbxb commented on. I started with Option 11 and 81 and I am sure my teaching buddy told me LD 20 versus the others :) My well-aged peers likely still used 10 and 11.

Unfortunately were all a dieing breed. Try to find a new switch that doesn't have a GUI. It's all good though. Never thought when I started working on Nortel 20+ years ago that I would ever remember all the loads. But it didn't take long. I'm too old to care if someone uses ld 20 or ld 11, it really doesn't matter to me. Most people on this forum never look in the book anyway, it's easier to ask the question here. Life is too short as is the life of the Nortel PBX. Time to move on.

Remember it is not what Load you use, it is what Load you teach. This is, after all, a forum designed to teach and empower.

Me? I always use LD 20. I never need to go into LD 10 or 11 from the command line. But I have the books memorized.

My goal is to enable others. I think that all of us experts need to keep that in mind. We are the experts and we assist those that need help.

Dr Trout .... you need to be struck off for that admission!!

I seem to be one of the dying few who still use Ld 10 and LD 11 religiously. I have slipped a little though - I no longer type in CAPS !!
