TDS 7.0 versus TDS 8.0

I've problems with an application using SQL-server.

At the presenation/session layer we're using TDS 7.0 with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to connct to the network-layer.

I've found for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 it's possible to use TDS 8.0.
Can the upgrade from TDS 7.0 to TDS 8.0 the solution for my applicationproblem's? Sometimes computersystems hung.
