TCP/IP protocol: how to install drivers without NT CD-ROM

Hello.

I had problems with my machine. When restoring my NT system, I notice that there is no CD-ROM device detected.

I want to transfer my data from my NT to another machine, and I want to install TCP-IP drivers.

But Windows NT ask me for the CD-ROM. So I have two questions:

1) Where can I make NT detect my CD-ROM?
2) If not possible, how can I install TCP/IP drivers in order to connect my NT with my LAN? (via floppy disks?)

I would be extremely obliged if anybody could help me.

Thank you.

You should first try to rectify the problem and see if you can get the unit to detect the cd. Failing that if both units have nic cards and netbeui is installed connect them together and copy the cd from cd drive on unit1 to hard drive on unit2.

Failing that you can use a communications(ProComm, PCAnywhere) program to connect the units port to port.

Do you have another PC on your network that has a workable CDROM? If you do, what you can do is share the CDROM drive, then connect to it from your PC that does not have a workable CDROM drive. Of course you will need to put the NT CD in the CDROM drive, then share the drive, then map to this drive.. Your best bet is to copy the contents of the i386 directory on the NT CD to a new directory on your Domain Controller (the one without the workable CDROM). Then when you try to add the TCP/IP protocol and it asks for the CDROM, you can just point to the directory you created that has the i386 files.
