Has anyone used and or setup the Tasman routers yet?
Anyone played with/used/using the firewall?
Would like to get a feel for its interface, (and opinions on it vs. other popular ones like Cisco's PIX/IOS, Checkpoint, Nortel's alteon etc.)

The product has been constrained ever since Nortel bought them and other than our SEs, I don't know of any end-users who have them yet.

?

Yes I am using them on a Private IP WAN (a couple of 3120s and a whole lot of 1002s). The command reference guide is a joke. The initial password/username is all lower case, not the mixed case in the users guide.

They are nice little routers, but you might want to have support available just in case. I'm having problems right now configuring a 1002 for an ISP connection with an IP unnumbered Frame Relay interface. Worked 3 hours on it with no luck before I got an old Bay ARN router I had in storage - had the ISP link up (from no config to secured router passing traffic) in under 30 minutes with it.

Otherwise, the ones I currently have in my production WAN with simple configs are working flawlessly.

telecom116, thanks for the info, however, back to the original questions, I'm interested in the Firewall capabilities of the box, not as much the routing (which I have seen)?

Thanks,
HH
