Under ME, I used to have an icon in the taskbar, relating to my internet connection status. Under XP, I can't set up this icon. Any ideas why? Thanks

i have this problem to on a pc. i helpe a friend of mine install winxp. the first time it booted everything was fine, i set up the internett and network and it worked. it worked when i left. when i came back the other day, it didn't work. the pc had been restarted. i troubled a lot and then reinstalled it xp and got it to work. but after a restart it was back to the same!? what is this, it's an old compaq pc 600mhz p3 i think. maybe the bios.

OK> Here it is. The solution. I had the same problem, and it seems to be specific to ME upgrades to XP.

You need to re-register certain Dlls and Ocxs in System32. This command allows you to do the lot.

Exactly as it appears:

FOR %a IN (c:\winnt\system32\*.dll,c:\winnt\system32\*.ocx) DO c:\winnt\system32\regsvr32.exe /s %a

where am i to write that ? i can't do it from the RUN on the start menu. is this a vb script of some sort?

Yes. I'm listening too. Where do I introduce that command?
