First a disclaimer, I am a noob with BCM. My experience is with ICS and Avaya IP Office. But I have a customer that I have been given that has a BCM and I am being expected to take it over. Enough about me, here's my scenario.

I have a customer that has 3 locations with BCM's. The main branch has a BCM 400, the other 2 have BCM 50's (all software is current or one release ago). The main branch has a PRI and site 2 (ops center) shares it's lines with them. Branch 3 has it's own POTs lines. I have them all set up and talking to each other across the network, so that's no problem. Ops center can call out over the PRI and even has target lines directed at them. This is where my question comes in. I can't for the life of me figure out in programming how they did it even though I can add additional target lines to the ops center with no problems as if the PRI was coming into that location. But when I went to set up a target line at branch 3, it is not working.

Side note, another company installed the main branch and the ops center. I installed branch 3. So I am assuming there is a bit of programming I am missing somewhere, that for the life of me I could not find despite searching.

Are u trying to use the PRI at site 1 for site 3 or just using the pots lines for site 3. If POTS, u don't need target lines. Just setup a route, assign a destination code to it, and give site 3 sets access to the pool.

In routing when a call comes in for the other site it sends it over the route and the other side gets the recived digits and sends it to the target line.

I am trying to set up target lines at branch 3 using the PRI from the main branch.

On the system with the PRI under target line settings, redirect line to the extension of the remote system.

When I try to do that, it doesn't allow any extension outside of the extensions at that branch. ie the extensions there are 1000's, the extensions at branch 3 are 1800's. And looking at branch 2 (ops center) the target line programming for those extensions are in that system, not the main branch with the PRI.

Not sure if you have access to Nortel doc's but if you do, look for the Bcm400_Expansion_Gateway_Engineer_Guide where it explains you how to transfer calls from a bcm expansion gateway that has the pri's and transfer to the other bcm thru destination code and target line.If you don't leave me an e-mail adress and i'll forward it to you.

redswine - how do you like the IP Office? I have not messed with them for the last couple of years. In the past they were super buggy but I have heard they are better now. What do you think?

dbullion - I stopped working on them for a couple of years as well for that very reason. Got back into them this year and have found them much easier to work with and a lot less buggy, in my experience.

gberger - Is that on the docs disc that comes with it? If so, I should have it. Thanks

I'm not sure if it's on the cd. I got it few years ago from a level 2 engineer.

You have to build a route and destination .Ex. dest 18A absorb 0 (A=any other number)route 005 Bloc or pool? that points to that site 3. If VOIP in remote gateway under IP trunks enter dest digits 18.

got the routes already set up, I can 4 digit dial from site to site with no problems.

gberger,

I have tried looking for the Expansion Gateway manual you talked about. I can't seem to find it.

Thanks!

gabber4858,

leave me your email and i'll send it to you.

You basically take the digits you are receiving from Telco and configure them as a Destination code, them point them to a route towards your destination site.
At the destination site, configure a target line with matching digits and assign it to a phone.
Example:
Site A
212-555-1212 arrives on the PRI at site A.
The system is configured to Public Received Number length of 4.
Route 121 is configured to use the VoIP trunks to site B and the DN type is private.
There is a Destination Code of 1212, absorb 0, use Rt 121.
Site B
Target Line 212 has a private recvd number of 1212 and is assigned to DN 212.

Hope this helps!
