I am running 2 win 2K server domain controllers. Since last week, for some odd reason, my additional(2nd) domain controller named DomainB cannot Communicate with the 1st DC named DomainA.
Every time I try to browse to DomainA from DomainB, I get the "target account name is incorrect" error and it doesn't synchronize DomainA. But I can browse using IP address this tells me this something has to do with DNS. I checked with Microsoft Knowledge didn’t help. Any info how to troubleshoot this issue will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

FYI: But I am able to browse from DomainA to DomainB.

Did you assigned second DC a GC, and un-check the first DC from GC?

Check your second DC event viewer, see if there are any errors; and what it is.

I’m having the same exact problem! How did you fix it Sheel? Please Please tell me!!!

Seang5150:

In my scenario I didn't had any problem with DNS. I just restarted my DOMAIN A, then restarted the DOMAIN B. That took care the problem.

Not a DNS issue. This is an issue that is related to machine passwords for the machine accounts. A restart (as suggested) of both machines may resolve it, as will using NETDOM (from the Support Tools on the Windows 2k CD) to force a reset and synch of the machine account passowords.

HTH!
