HI all:

I'm trying to tar a file to a tape drive on another machine, but I got a error message says the Sarah not found. Please help
Thanks

'The Sarah not found'?

Can you give a few more details about what you did or were trying to do? Cheers.

Hi:
I use the Sarah as the hostname for one of my machine that has tape drive on it.

I can't using tar command to do a remote backup:
this is what I did,
tar -cvf sarah:/dev/rmt/2m /home/sarah
then I got a error message: sarah is not find.

Since fbackup command is only can be used by root, is there another command I can use
for remote backup as a user?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that you can't create a tar direct to a tape drive on another machine. If you have the space on this box, create the tar here, ftp the file to Sarah, and tar to the tape drive from Sarah.
