Hello!

An unexplainable effect occurs during a "normal" tar on a 9840 tape with fc access to a hp v-class server.
It must be a problem with large files i.e. a 100mb file, generates the following message:
Tar: unable to auto load next media.
Tar: to continue, enter device/file name when ready or null string to quit.
But the tape is not at it's end!

Someone with an idea?

Thank's a lot.

Dieter

Dieter ,

I saw this problem on a HP server using fc to access to
a 9840 tape .
It was link to the switch used, the configuration & topology .
'Broacade' switches are certified with fc card under HP systems, and the fc card was a tachyon model .

After changing the switch by a brocade and topology, it was fine .

Leo,

thank for your response.
We are working with Silkworm 2800er's in quickloop. And several ( not millions) other machines are running quite well.
The effect only appears from time to time without other events pointing in this direction.
And now, after ... weeks we have that problem on another machine, and this is suspicious. Too, it's a 2500er V-class.
It must have a connection and a connection to increasing load.
We're waiting for technicians and fc-analyzers to find more.
I will report.

Regards

Dieter
