Im with a little problem, i wanna make a simple tar but to create volumes with dvd size.

I've never tried it but "tar" has the "-L" tape length and "-M" multi-volumne switches that you might like to try.

i did tried that but it returned me an size error, dont know why!!!

How big was the file it created? Maybe it can only handle 2GB files? Try creating multiple 1GB files instead perhaps (or choose a size so that they fit nicely on to a DVD).

Also, don't forget that the -L option accepts a size in 1024 bytes BLOCKS.
So 1 meg would be 1024!
You might be trying to create files 1000 times larger than you expect.
