When I'm installing the TAPI on my computer the Wizard says,"TAPI Install "No IP Office detected on the network"

of course we have the IP Office on the network but why is it not recognizing the server?
Thanks.

Firewall is disabled on the IP Office server and Windows 7 client. AV is disabled. The IP Office is on a different VLAN that my client but those VLANS have access to each other and can ping etc.
Crazy thing is that I call install the SSA on my laptop noproblemand it sees the server but the TAPI client cant, go figure.

ok, I installed the TAPI on a machine on the same vlan as the IP Office and it recognizes it but says "Failed to retrieve user list from the IP Office".

Anyway, how can it not recognize between VLANS? Doesnt make sense. All VLANS are allowed to access each other.

During installation of TAPI the software does a braodcast in order to find a IP Office. One advantage of using VLANs is that it blocks [/b]broadcasts. which explains why you get that message during the install. Just ignore the message and continue the installation. When installation has finished and the server has been restarted you can configure the TAPI interface under in the configuration screen > Phone and Modem options, third tab. Enter the IP address of the ip office and a name of a logged on phone user with the users password if set.

If it ain't dutch it ain't much

But broadcasts don't transition between VLAN's that's how the auto discovery works on such things :)

intrigrant,
After the client tapi install you're saying the server needs to be restarted?

"When installation has finished and the server has been restarted

amriddle01,
"But broadcasts don't transition between VLAN's that's how the auto discovery works on such things"

That means then that autodiscovery isnt working properly, something I should check? Thanks.

How isn't it working properly? You said they were on different VLANs and broadcast doesnt cross those so it can't find it, sounds right. Unless of course they are on the same network but then there's nothing you can do about it anyway :)

@tolindrome : yes of course the server as to be restarted. Windows considers TAPI as hardware which has to be initialized duringthe boot process.

IP Office and clien tcomputer are on different networks (vlans). Is there anyway to have the TAPI client see the IP Office on the different VLAN? If not, how then can I get the TAPI installed to work correctly?
Thanks!

You go into the TAPI driver settings after installation (in Control Panel) and enter the address and username etc :)

As i said earlier in this thread...
