Outlook 2000 was failing to see the IP Office Line when dialing out.

Having tried about a dozen different solutions from here and other forums I upgraded to Outlook 2002 and it worked immediately!

Any clues?

Check if phone dialer can see the ipoffice line

Other than that reinstall outlook 2000 with all options

I have found that loading the tapi driver and getting it to work can be a bit difficult. For starters make sure the pc is connected to the network and is able to ping the IPO. Sencond, make sure your ext information in the tapi properties is correct and make sure the password is correct related to your user (password field in the user tab in manager). Then try rebooting once you have verified the password. By the way, you stated "Outlook 2000 was failing to see the IP Office Line when dialing out." If you installed it correctly, in the dial properties of outlook, you should see avaya IPO with your ext number. You will see avaya IP line and that is not what you want to use... Hope i helped....

MS Phone dialer can see the avaya office line ok.

Network connection is fine.

The extension information (user information) is correct, and appears in the "configure" Avaya option under control panel / phones and modems.

There is no password. On the Outlook 2002 machines I do see the avaya IPO and extension, which works perfectly.

Any other clues? Otherwise I am going to have to upgrade a whole load of PCs to Outlook 2002 / 3

whats the SP level on Outlook 2000?

This must be the day for TAPI problems. I was onsite today for a new install...customer has XP Pro deployed with Outlook 2000...had all the same problems. did not see the IP Office line in line properties when you would open a contact. Pulled most of my hair out. Went back to the office, had a few beers and tried it on one of my techs laptops that has Win2k with Outlook 2000...same damn thing happening. The office manager uses it in our office just fine, in fact if you open up MS dialer, it's not even setup to use the IPO settings. This works fine in Outlook, 2k OS with 2003 Office. Go figure... Anyone have any ideas on Office 2000. I know in the past I had this working with Office 2000 but it was back on 1.4 or early 2.0 IPO with whatever version of Phone Manager would have been loaded at the time.

The beers didn't seem to help but they sure tasted good, especially on a 90 degree day. (Farenheit to you in the UK)

Had this problem this week

Step 1
install phone manager by selecting the unit in the search feild

Step 2

Choose the user

Step 3
Fillin there extension Number

Step 4

After installation install the patch if your using version 3.0

Step 5

Reboot the PC

After login

go to control Panel and modem/phones and choose the advanced tab

Select Avaya Tapi

Tapi should be propergated with the Username and switch information.

IF not put in the user extension save and reboot in outlook after the reboot all info should be there.

Which patch ? Is there an IP Office 3 patch?

Outlook 2000 has MS SP3 on it.

During the installation of IP office I only put in the user name, not the extension number. The program seems to pick up the extenstion number OK from the server, and this worked for Outlook 2002 but not Outlook 2000 where the line is not seen.

One thing I found is before you install the IPO TAPI deinsall all other TAPI drivers that you can some cannot be removed just leave them.

Then install IPO TAPI and reboot then test with dialer.

Be aware there are issues with version 3 TAPI driver and outlook its in the release notes.

[cheers]

Several customers using TAPI / Outlook with no problems

I did have one site where i had a similar problem

Found that after selecting the IP office ext as the dialer option dialling from outlook would not work

Selected another option , clicked OK, Relselected dialler options and reselected IP Office ext option and all started working.

I had to do this for all 25+ clients

Not exactly sure what Exchange config they where running but i beleive it was Exchange 5.5 on NT4 with WIN2K clients.

I have tried deleting all available other telephony providers before installing the Avaya TAPI drivers - no good.

My problem is that the IP office ext line is not being offered at all in dialing options.

The only solution is to switch to Outlook 2002.
