I am just about to install a new telephone switchboard that is TAPI and CLI complient.

I want to be able to integrate this into our own inhouse sales desk software, popping the account onto the screen of the calling customer, clicking a button on the screen next to a customers phone number and have the phone call it for you, and routing the call internally depending on the customers geographical CLID dialing code.

I know this question is pretty general, but I just wanted some feedback from anyone that may have done this sort of thing before.

Are talking route controling (ie. best rate ->time of day etc...) through a VFP application? Do you know the table format of the switch? We have done it with our Hong Kong facility, but the table used was already a DBF table, not too much work involved.

Hi Mike,

The sort of thing I want to do, and im reading some stuff on MS TAPI, is to pop the customer account on the screen when the phone rings as the switch (an LG LDK300) will pass around the CLI of the caller.

I also want to be able to route the call depending on the CLI, if a customer rings from Edinburgh, the system will reconise the customers dialing code from the CLI and route the call to the sales department that looks after customers in the north.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with your setup, I assumed you were talking about a telephone switching system (ie. You make a call from England to Canada, and the call is routed through a switch - as all calls are -- and the switch controls how to route your call to Canada with different carriers). I didn't realize you were talking about internal call switching, although I would guess that the principle is the same.
Is there a table of somekind the currently allows you to control the call switching?

Mike,

The short answer is I dont know yet, the switch doesnt turn up for a couple of weeks yet, the functionality that they want on the sales desk isnt supported directly but they have told me I can write my own TAPI link on the gateway of the switch to do what they want, nice when they do that for you isnt it?

I will wait for it to turn up and read as much on the TAPI spec as I can in the mean time.

Thank you.
