Hi,

We have BAB 11.5 SP2 running, backing up Netware and Windows servers.
We have 2 media pools, one for the Netware BU and one for the Windows BU.
The BU jobs run well, and the data gets merged into the AS Database.
However, when we try to "restore by session" (which we normally do), none of the tapes containing a recent BU can be found !
Only, a small number of older tapes can be seen.
It seems as if the tapes are not known to the BU server.
Is this a ASDB problem ? We do not have any clue where to start looking.
We reported this problem to CA (email support), but even after a few days, no answer has been received.

Thanks

Hi,

we need to check it out.
But after the BU, the contents of the BU get merged into the db (application log). Is one of the db's to be suspected ?

Could be I had multiple problems with the DB in 11.5. What is the current size of it? My advice would be to switch it to a sql in 11.5 or move on to version 12 as Sql DB is standard.

You could also run checks against the DB in command line. I forget the exact commands but you can find them on the CA site.

Indeed, the astpsdat could be very large. We'll check it out.
We backup more than 1 TB each day (5x a week)
The database we use is the default db provided in the product.
I know from previous db problems that checking for errors and defragmenting this database takes ages and does not always lead to a solution...
We could try to reinitialize the database or to move to sql.
Thanks for your tips and advice.
