Tape Libraries...

Hi there,

I've been tasked with automating our backups and have been provided with a HP A4853A tape library to do so.

I have to use the existing software which is ARCserve but this tape library does not appear on their HCL.

HOWEVER...someone mentioned to me that this tape library is just a Storagetek 9730 with a different badge on and the 9730 IS supported by ARCserve.

Can anyone confirm for me if the A4853A is indeed just a 9730 rebranded, and more importantly, if it will work with ARCserve?

That is true to the best of my knowledge. But you might be better off with an STK code installed, if the library will accept it, which I believe it will.

You are correct in saying it is a branded box. This is a very easy box to work on.
