tape expiration 1

Hello,

I ran a bpmedilist to generate all the medias on the database. Is there a command to check the expiration date on each tape.

Windows
C:\program files\veritas\volmgr\bin\vmquery -m EA0001 (ea001 here is the number on the media barcode)

Unix
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -m B001D

(The barcodes comes in this form…i.e. B0076D and must be typed in this way for the command to run successfully)
The output of this command on both Unix and Windows will show you almost the same information about the media. Below are some of the important ones for this exercise;

Media ID EA0001
Volume Pool Daily Offsite (7)
Data of Last Mount 10/01/2002 00:00:01
Expiration Date 12/03/2003 00:02:02
Number Of Mounts 12

From the information above, it shows that the media should have expired a longtime ago under a month retention period scheme. This then means that the data on the media can then be expired.

Try this commands out and you will see the information you need.
