Problem: Erasing copied tapes (that are not in database) with same names as originals removes all orignal tape information from the database.

Anyone know how to erase a tape in ArcServe without the tape information being automatically removed from the database? Is this an option by chance?

Use "Quick Erase", The history of the media is still available to ARCserve for tracking purposes if this is what you mean by tape information.

Thanks for the response. A quick erase also "cleaned" the database of the media information. I'm going to format the destination tapes with different names and see if that works.

Tapecopy -a
Using the append option with tapecopy the target tape can have a different name and so erasing one will not affect the other.
