I am running Windows 2000 server, Arcserve for Windows 2000, with an HP Surestor DAT drive. When I try to start my tape engine it times out and does not start. In my event log on a Windows 2000 server I get the following error: The Arcserve tape engine service terminated with the following error: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Coal,
This may not help you, but I had this very same problem. I am running AS2000 on Windows 2000 Adv.Serv., with both an Exabyte 200 library (w/M2 drives) & 220 library. After upgrading the OS from NT4.0 sp6a, ARCserve starting hastling me. I stopped all of the ARCserve engines, checked processes in Task Manager and found that tapeenge.exe was still running. I then got the PID # of tapeenge.exe (e.g. 1536) and went to a command prompt.

>kill 1536

After that I restarted all engines and it worked. Good luck.
