After backing up the linux box. What are the commnad line to see that if the linux tape drive is really backing up.
 
You can use the tar command (probably with -t)to check the contents of a tape. Check the man page for tar on your system.
 
what backup command are you using? Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"
 
I am using the tar command. The command line I use is:
tar -czvf /dev/st0 -1 -v /home --totals
 
Then timjarland is correct:
use "tar -tvf /dev/st0" to view the contents of the tape. Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"
