Tape Drive SPARCStation 5 / Sol 8

Anyone know how to add an Exabyte 8mm SCSI tape drive to a Solaris 2.8 installation on a SparcStation 5?

The tape drive was added after the initial install and I am not sure how to create the rmt devices in the dev directory for it.

HI..

Try with devfsadm command with tape option. It will automatically detects the device and creat neceary files.

log in as root
#devfsadm tapes

think will solve ur problem.

Thanks for the tip. The devfsadm command was what I needed. I had to use the 'evfsadm -C'form. The 'tapes' option was unrecognized. The '-C' option ran and created the appropriate tape device entries.
