I have recently installed a spare tape drive into a dell Windows 2000 workstation. Initially I had problems as the drive was not being reconised at all by the computer. However after checking with Dell we changed the SCSI card and since it has been installed the drive is now being detected by the SCSI select utility.

However in Windows the drive is not appearing in my computer. It is beingfound by Windows and is detected in the Hardware Device Manager. I need to be able to access the drive to set up a scheduled backup to it each week, but since it is not listed I cannot set it as the destination of the backup.

Any clues??

Thanks
Steven

Download the w2k drivers for said tape device and manually install the hardware using the driver sets you pulled.
