Hi

We use ArcServe 2000 with Seagate AIT drive - STA6701W, the tape capacity is 35GB/70GB compressed.

Lately, the job has started asking for 2 tapes, the initial error message reads: The tape drive is having problems writing data. No data has been lost, but there has been a reduction in the capacity of the tape.

I've tried cleaning the drive, changing jobs, changing tapes, reducing size of database and log files... everything I could think of.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Thanks.

Hi

I have had a similar problem with my Hewlett-Packard AIT. I use Veritas backup exec and any large backups I do i am prompted with that message. I have tried cleaning the drive, different size tapes and different versions of the software.
