I am getting messages stating "Tape Alert not supported on
IBMULTRIUM-TD1. DRives are IBM FC Ultrium 1 , clasee 3580.

This is my setup:

L700 tape Library
Solaris 8
Netbackup DC 4.5 , MP4
Cleaning tape inserted and setup for Tape Alert

Has anyone had any problem(s) with the Tape Alert?
Veritas's support show that Tape Alert is supported
on this tape drive for my setup.

Thanks

Tuka,
Not sure if you have resolved this problem yet, but these actions worked for us.
To enable TapeAlert Cleaning on Veritas NetBackup 3.2 and above:

1. STK library Autoclean functionality must be turned OFF or conflicts result.

2. A cleaning cartrige must be visible to the NetBackup Media Manager

3. The cleaning cartrige must have its Media Type set to Cleaning Cartrige in NetBackup Media
Manager. Under the Media Type column in Media Manager, DLT cartriges should show up as DLT_CLN.
9840, 9940, and LTO cartriges should show up as HC_CLN. If they show up as DLT or HCART,
TapeAlert will NOT use them to clean drives.

4. There should not be any cleaning schedule (frequency based cleaning) setup under NetBackup.
If there is, it will interfere with TapeAlert. This can be checked by running
"/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpclean" on the command line. This will show all all drives with mount
time, and frequency. All values in the Frequency column should be set to zero.
