tap3 file processing

i want to develop a small billing system , i will use TAP3 files for the input. the problem is that can anyone guide me how i can tranfer the data of tap3 file into a database like sql server or oracle using a tool like vb or java.

if you know any api to do this stuff plz do help me .

on sql you could use bulk insert

but TAP3 files are specific format files so how we can translate them in readable format. e.g if #$u9904--k may represent JHONE - 19YEAR- BANKING .

you can use a format file and/or a lookup table with the tranformation key or you can import asis to a temp table and use a SP to transform the data.
