I am trying to co-locate 2 Magix systems using 4 CO lines between them. I put the lines in pools, assigned Tandem sw. IDs, programmed UDP and ARS, and inabled remote calling, but when I dial a non-local ext. there is no response, just silence in the handset of the calling ext.
When I do a Tie lines report there is nothing there, and when I go to Lines/Trunks > Tie Lines > "anything in that menu" , I get an error beep.
Am I missing the Tie Lines assignment for the 4 trunks?
Did I maybe program in the wrong order?
Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure for this function?

Thanks in advance,
mj

Are you trying to go from 4 CO ports of switch 1 to 4 co ports of switch 2? That actually won't work. You can't access a CO that doesn't have a certain amount of voltage, I want to say 24 volts, but I can't remember for sure.

You most likely can't access the TIE lines menu because the system sees that there is no equipment to facilitate the TIE lines, such as a T-1 card or an E&M card.

The easiest, most reliable way to co-locate the two systems is to use T-1 cards. Configure each T-1 card as a point to point T-1, one being the network switch and one being the satelite switch. I have a sheet on that I can send you. By doing this, and setting up your point to point as a PRI emulation, you can also do voice mail coverage for both systems with one voice mail, known as centralized voice mail. You can also get caller info on the display phones.

If you need more info, let me know.

Ghostin,
Will that explains it. Not really what I wanted to hear. I was trying exactly what you said. In an attempt to save system resources (ext. ports) on the main system, I was trying to use a co-lo system to run T/R lines used only for Fire, Elevator, Fax, and Modem applications. With the expense of 2 T1 cards, It might be better to just max out the main system, and invest in a co-lo system when and if I need it.
Are there any analog cards (E&M?) that will do this? Or... any way to fake it out?
Thanks for the reply,
mj

What you could do is go from a t/r port for each CO line. In other words, take X100-X103 from switch one and plug them into lines 801-804 on switch two, Then do vice versa, take x200-203 on switch two and plug them into 801-804 on switch one. This will work. Assuming you have the t/r exts avaible.

look for some T-1 cards on Ebay. You can get a good price if you keep a watch out.

Thank-you Ghostin and jinxs.

The t/r to CO works. I now need to decide which one to go with. The input from you both has been very helpful and I do appreciate it.

Thanks again,
mj

You will get a true intergration using the T-1 cards, but obviously, it will be a more expensive option. However, if making the systems appear to be as one, and you don't want to try to train users to have to dial different numbers for different options, then that is the way to go. Do you just have one voice mail?

Ghostin,
I would like to have a copy of the P2P T1 that you mentioned. How can I get this from you?

You know, I just program it from memory. Give me a few days, and I will make up a cheat sheet in PDF format and make it available.

Have you had a chance to put together the "cheat sheet" for linking 2 Legends/Magixs using point to pont T1's configured as PRI in the switches? If so, could I get a copy, please. Thanks, Clyde.

Still working on it. It has been a hectic week. Maybe I can post it under a FAQ. I will try and let you know what happens.

I have the cheet sheet ready. I would like a few of the forums experts to contact me first for a proof reading. I did most of it from memory, so I want to make sure I did not miss anything. If you want to take a few minutes to look it over, email me at ghostin@myway.com. I will send you a word doc to look over.

I think the cheat sheet is ready for anyone who would like it. When I put it together, I made the assumption that the person using it would already have a good working knowledge of the Legend/Magix systems. If there are changes and tweaks, I will try to post them here or email them. When my new website is up and running in the next month or so, I will make it available to download. If you need the info contact me through my web site at I don't want to post my email here for fear of the spam engines!
