Hi there.
I would like some help with what I believe is a Meridian Option 11 system.
I have 'taken over' the system from another employee who left but have no experience at all of this system.
I have all the manuals but do not know where to start.

I want to do a couple of things:
I have one extension number that when it is busy it forwards the call to another extension. I think this is the HUNT setting?
How do I STOP the forwarding?

Also the main switchboard set gets a lot of 'minor alarms' showing up. Any thoughts why? Can I clear or check these at all?

Next question! We have three 'sets' of extensions 2600+ 2500+ and 2700+.
Only the 2600 extensions seem to have voicemail. Is there any reason why I should not add the other ranges to the voicemail system? I tried one and it seemed to work.

Finally on some of the voicemail accounts, even when the voicemail is not specically 'on' it will still forward after about 4 rings. This does not happen on all the voicemail enabled extensions - some just ring continuously if not specifically set to voicemail.
How is this set? It would be help to add the option to some extensions and remove from others.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like you are on a norstar system. Look on the bottom of one of the sets and see what the model number is. Should be a M2008, M2616, M3903,M3904 or something to that nature. This will tell us if you are on a PBX or a Key System. Is it a single or double cabinet hanging on the wall or a bunch of different sized cabinets on the wall?

Welcome to the forums. I am new to the Option11 and PBX systems in general also. This forum is probably the only place on the net where you can get some free technical advice/support on questions and issues.

Anyway, I recommend going through the FAQs people have made here. There are some common things on there that will no doubt pop up in the future for you. (Like adding an approved area code)

Good luck.

Hi again and thank you both for the replies.
I will check out the FAQs!
Glad I found this forum as the system looks a nightmare!

EddieDeuce: There are two nearly identical wall units for the system with green 'meridian1' labelling.

Most of the handsets are 2616D. I think there are 8 in the building - I believe these are digital lines?
Rest of the extensions have standard 'BT' handsets.

I work on an 81C, but the programming is similar. To stop a number from hunting, you must deny hunt in the cls (CLS HTD)
You should also remove the HUNT target from the TN of the phone.
Any extension can be set up for voicemail.
An extension with voicemail must be set up to HUNT to your voicemail number.
Changes can be made to your 2616 sets in LD 11 or LD 20.
Good Luck!

So to stop the forwarding, you would need to change the FNA to FND (forward no answer)prompt, the HTA to HTD (hunting allowed) prompt, FBA to FBD (forward busy allowed), and possibly a few others. If you could post the TN's, we could probably be of more help.

Basic info:
FDN is for forward no Answer
Hunt is for forwarding on Busy

in the class of service "CLS"
This relates to FNA/FND (Forward no Answer Allowed/Denied)
and HTA/HTD (Hunting Allowed/Denied)
also you will find in the programming LHK which is Last Hunt Key for hunting up the key strip (remember the first key is key 0 not key 1. so to hunt to the second key you would enter LHK 1.
