Hi,

I am playing a mpg file in windows media player.

I want to take picture/screen shot of the video as it is played.

How do i do this?

PS-ctrl+print screen takes a screen shot, but when i paste it into mspaint, the video is playing in the mspaint screen.

thanks,

Nope its the same problem.

It takes a picture, i paste it into mspaint, the video is still running,

If i close the media player, the picture i took vanishes.

well u go just pause the video file, press print screen think that might work?

or from google groups i found;

You should try more sofisticated capture programs, like the
capture tool in PaintShopPro, SnagIt, HyperSnap (which can
capture even hardware accelerated video) or the free
IrfanView ( Anyway you have to manually
define the capture area with those programs, since the
WindowsMediaPlayer window draws its own controls on the same
surface as the video, so it is not possible (in a general
way) to programmatically distinguish one part from another.

no that doesnt work, has same problems as before.

i am not sure but try to turn off hardware acceleration and you will be able to
capture the player's window contents.

how do i do that?

That works, cheers man, i didnt have to change it in Display in control settings, cause some sources said i needed to do that.

I can change it directly from windows media player,

To change the setting in the Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab. Move the Video acceleration slider to None.

thanks a million!

depends on which mplayer u are using.

Using mplayer2.exe (the old and best one) (u can start it from start-->run-->mplayer2 (that is type in mplayer2)

go to view-->options--> then there is a hardware accleration thing set in the playback tab it to none (should be on full)...
