We're installing a hotel that has 2 switchboards (5540) and 3 front desk telephones (5330e). The system is replacing an SX200-ELx.

Their incoming calls ring to an LDN button on the switchboards. The SX200 used TAFAS to pick up switchboard calls at the front desk phones.

On the MiVB the docs say you must set up a Night Bell... Then have the calls ring to the Night bell... then TAFAS will work... but I'm not sure the calls will then ring to the LDN assigned on the switchboard.

I can get calls to roll from the switchboard to the front desk phones ring group, but it stops ringing the switchboards when it does.
Since the consoles can't be part of the ring group, they can't retrieve the call once it's left.

Directed call pickup will work

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

We got this to work using Directed Call Pickup. Made sure the options were enabled in both the Telephone and Console Classes of Service.

Using the Directed Call Pickup feature code followed by the extension number of one of the switchboards, I was able to make it work.

I deleted the TAFAS code, and added it as a system speedcall that dialed the required code to simplify this for the end users.

I had previously tried directed call pickup but to the LDN button, not the PRIME extension of the switchboard.... Thanks KWB - you're right as usual :)

jpruder - Yes, TAFAS is available, but it does not work the same way as it did on the 200 EL. To use TAFAS on the 200, they just needed to dial the TAFAS code to pick it up. On the 3300, you have to configure a night bell, then set the system in Night service... and have the trunks ring to the night bell - that will work... but it's not acceptable to the customer.

The dialed pickup code + Console DN worked as the customer wanted.
