ok in Access i can go tools, analyse, documenter and i can get a report on a table with all its columns and field types. how do i do the same thing in SQL 2000 ?

If you run the sp_help command from query analyzer you can send the output to a file.
From the Menu select Query
Then select results to file.
Then run your query.

It will create a .rpt file that you can open in notepad or word.

 
Have you thought about linking the tables into Access then using the documenter in Access. Works for me!
