Last week.. p9 stopped running. On start up, it would report a missing DLL. So I reinstalled it. It works fine now, except that the table I use most frequently will not interact with the form I had designed for data input. The form loads ok...but there are no records in it...and I can't get it to load a record into the form. How to fix?

The reinstall did fix ONE problem I'd been having...that being an error message upon exit from p9. It was an illegal operation error. Gone now.

Any ideas, Lance?

Dan,

Could be several things:

1. There may be a filter or range saved on the form. To check, open the form, choose Fromat | Filter and then look for existing conditions. Don't forget to check the Order/Range area, too.

2. The index used to create the link the table is attached to has become corrupted. Delete the index files and then use restructure to re-create the index. The table (and form) needs to be closed to do this.

3. The form may have been saved with invalid stylesheet information. For details, start with and read the other related articles as well. Yes, this is a problem that everyone should check, especially when things start getting squirrley.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Lance. I'll check out the stuff you mentioned in your reply. I'm going to take a few days off this week...and plan on taking my old laptop clunker with me so I can get that date+15 thing to work. Will let you know if I'm successful.

I sure hope you never decide to quit monitoring this message board!

First check for filters. Sounds very probable.

Delete any pdox.lck , pdox.usr etc files.

Check it. If it doesn't work -

Then delete the index file and use "restructure" under tools. Check structure validity. Use the tool if necessary. If this works recreate index file as Lance says.

Or try this:

Trick I use:

Make a new folder. Copy into that folder only the table (DB) the object file (DM) and the form, or whatever other information you need. Click on the form. Pdox will immediately "complain" that it can't find the table and graciously ask if you want to replace it. Do so with the table copied into the file.

Bet that works.
