Hey there
Call me dumb but..
Having problems getting the lookup to fill in fields when in a form view for edit
works fine on the table itself but when in form edit just the quick code i type stays there and teh lookup appears to work (ctrl space etc) but data not ok

thanks Joe for responding
i have set aup a table say with a field "type"
that looks up another table "tree" with 2 fields both A20
first is code second field is tree
say code A is for APPLE while editinfg teh table and I have set up tablelookup for the type field, when I enter A it automatically fills the field with APPLE when i move to next field however in form view or using a designed form the lookup value "apple" doesn't come up it stays at A
It gives you the option to see lookup (ctrl spacebar)table but says A is not a valid choice (or something like that)
Looking forward to your help
Thanks
Tony

If your look-up field is set up correctly on the table, and you are able to do a look up and fill the values on the table level, then, the problem is how you create the form.

I would create a new form and put the main and lookup table in the data model.
Test if you can press CTRL-SPACEBAR to choose and fill inte values.
If yes, then it’s working.

Now, if the lookup field is a number and you entered a non-numeric value, you will get “Invalid character(s) in this field” error message. It helps to know what the exact error message is.
